The Management of Franco-BritishInternational University (FBIU), Kaduna, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the National Eye Centre (NEC), Kaduna, to explore potential areas of partnership in clinical training, research and other areas of mutual interest.

The delegation was led by the President of FBIU, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad, and was received by the Chief Medical Director of the National Eye Centre, Dr. Amina Hassan Wali.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad said the purpose of the engagement was to explore avenues for collaboration between the University and the Centre, particularly in the clinical training of students in health related programmes.

He noted that the eye is one of the most vital organs of the human body, stressing that practical exposure in specialised eye care would equip students with the knowledge, skills and professional competence required for effective healthcare service delivery.

Responding, the Chief Medical Director of the National Eye Centre, Dr. Amina Hassan Wali, expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that the Centre was established to provide specialised eye care services, training and research and improving eye health in Nigeria.

She further explained that the National Eye Centre is equipped with modern facilities and equipment, as well as trained and specialised personnel committed to delivering quality eye care services and professional training.

Dr. Wali also outlined some of the specialised services provided by the Centre, including corneal and retinal care, paediatric ophthalmology, optometry services and training in Ophthalmic Nursing, among others.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Peter Jiya, thanked the management of FBIU for finding the National Eye Centre worthy of collaboration.

He added that the Centre remains open to further discussions on areas of partnership in line with established government policies and regulatory guidelines.

In attendance during the meeting were the senior members of the management of National Eye Centre, as well as members of the FBIU delegation.
