The Management of Franco-British International University (FBIU), Kaduna, has on Friday paid a courtesy visit to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, to seek mentorship and explore areas of collaboration.

The delegation, led by the FBIU President included the Director, Linkages and Collaboration, Malam Umar Alkali Usman; Dean, Students Affairs, Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim Mirnga; Dean, School of Nursing Sciences, Hajiya Karimatu Muhammad; Personal Assistant to the President, Ibrahim Jibril Aliyu; and Media Personnel, Malam Alyasa’a Hassan.

The team was warmly received on arrival by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed and other senior officials of the University.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Sabo said FBIU was granted licence in 2023 and commenced academic activities in February 2025.

He explained that, as an alumnus of ABU, he deemed it necessary for his alma mater to serve as the mentoring university for FBIU, noting that the partnership would help the institution grow into a centre of knowledge and excellence.

Prof. Sabo added that ABU had made significant strides in technological advancement, citing its performance in ICT competitions as evidence of the university’s progress.

Prof. Sabo stated that FBIU currently has a limited number of departments and faculties but expressed optimism that, with ABU’s guidance and support, the university would expand its academic programmes and strengthen its institutional capacity.

He further commended the Management of ABU for its commitment to supporting and nurturing emerging universities.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Ahmed, appreciated FBIU for choosing the university as its mentoring institution.

Prof. Ahmed noted that ABU had mentored several universities within and outside Nigeria, including institutions in Liberia, Gambia, Sudan and Niger, among others, across various areas.

He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting the development of tertiary education and assured the delegation of the university’s assistance in areas of need, including access to academic staff, students and facilities.

In attendance from ABU were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Bello Sabo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Raymond Bako; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi.

Others were the Director, Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Bello Mukhtar, and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ibrahim Sani Kaita.
