Unilever to partner FBIU on Student Entrepreneurship training, others

Franco-British International University (FBIU), Kaduna, has on Tuesday received a delegation from Unilever Nigeria PLC on a courtesy visit to explore areas of partnership in entrepreneurship development and graduate employability.

The delegation was led by Mr. Demola Adubi, Regional Sales Manager, Unilever Nigeria PLC, Middle Belt Nigeria, alongside Mrs. Felicia Francis, Field Sales Manager, Kaduna State.

The team was received by the President of FBIU, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad, in his office.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Adubi explained that the purpose of the visit was to explore areas of collaboration and partner with higher institutions to support the production of employable and entrepreneurial graduates.

He noted that Unilever Nigeria PLC, as part of its commitment to youth empowerment and skills development, implements the Unilever Student Entrepreneurship Programme (U-STEP).

He explained that the initiative was aimed at empowering undergraduate students with practical entrepreneurship skills while enhancing their employability and financial independence.

According to him, the programme has recorded meaningful success across several institutions in Nigeria, where students actively engage in structured business activities supported by training, mentorship and access to Unilever products at wholesale prices.

In his remarks, the President of FBIU, Prof. Sabo, described the visit as timely, considering the growing need to equip students with practical skills that complement their academic knowledge and prepare them for the realities of life.

He noted that the University was committed to producing graduates who are academically sound, skilled, innovative and capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of society.

Prof. Sabo expressed the University’s readiness to partner with Unilever Nigeria PLC in areas that would provide students with practical entrepreneurial experience and create opportunities for them to become self-reliant after graduation.

Also speaking, the representative of the President General MAAUN Group of Universities, Dr. Ado Muhammad Sani, called on the organisation to explore more opportunities that would benefit students and the entire country.

He noted that initiatives of this nature would expose students to practical experiences and create opportunities for them to translate their knowledge and skills into viable business ventures.
